I know what you mean about the sound you like; it is how I like my pianos, a warmer sound. After listening this morning to Chairs Missing and Pink Flag, I believe it is a sound you will like. The re-mastering is not loud and bright to my ears. It has a warm sound when the volume is turned down. Also the CDs have 5 pages of quality notes (different on each CD) that the Eno reissues fail to have.
Thanks for the info. I am researching and researching the one who remastered these versions, Denis Blackham, and he is getting consistently good reviews.
Did you know about the new boxset, to be released any day now, called "Wire 1977>1979" consisting of the first 3 albums, plus two live albums, Live at the Roxy, and Live at CBGB's? This is an entirely new release, with mini LP packaging, and a 60 page booklet.
Edited to add that this new boxset is part of the new reissue series.
