Hurrah, you get me! And I'm grateful for your comments on the non black-and-whiteness of same-sex encounters above.

his (starlite-assigned) gayness was of the dejected "i'm never going to meet him/make out with him plus he's much too old" sort, rather than genuine gayness. ;)
Well, I'm not ruling out its being genuine, but yeah, it was of the variety you mention.

it sounds like his career (or the hype) will die as soon as he comes out/stays in… or not "stays in", but comes out as a straight person, if that's possible.
Actually, while a lot of the hype has to do with his sexuality, a good chunk of it has to do with his cheeky unabashed poppy campness, which makes me glad. I don't think he'll ever have to come out as straight though.
And after listening to it on repeat for the last two days straight, I will admit that I like his music. But I may have been temporarily brainwashed. That "Do I attract you? / Do I repulse you / with my queasy smile? Am I too dirty / Am I too flirty/ Do I like what you like?" part of Grace Kelly is definitely enough to make me rather disregard my brain.

sorry but you have to be a little bit bi or they'd be no point to it..
The "point" would be the curiousity of experimenting, and the infatuation/interest with the perceived glamour/artiness/exoticness/nonsexual affinity with/of gay culture and wanting to be a part of that. ;-)
