You guys! I am so proud!
My opinion-free reporting of a minor news item has devolved into a vintage Dogz thread with THIRTY posts! Doesn't it totally feel like 2002 all over again?
Anyway, yeah, what were we talking about? Art film? Well, the easiest and thus most correct way to determine whether something is art or not is to think about where you saw it:
-- Was it hanging on the wall of a gallery? Then it was ART -- Was it spraypainted on the outside wall of the gallery? Then it was NOT ART -- Did I see that movie at Angelika/IFC/Film Forum/(insert the name of local cinema with poor projection and uncomfortable seating here)? ART! -- Did I see that movie at a Loews/AMC multiplex? NOT ART
So there you have it - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is not art. If you want to expand your personal definition of art to include such qualities as "truth" and "beauty" and "heartbreaking honesty about human relationships" then you could probably squeeze it in, but that's on your head, bub.
And now, because old habits don't die, I just have to ask:
In reply to:
Your post just confirms you had no idea what Dogz was about and still haven't!!!
OK, no, I won't ask, because obviously there's no way you'd ever just come out and *say* what Dogz was "about," no, that'd be too easy.
So a simpler question: was there ever anyone at TW who you feel DID get what Dogz was about?
I don't walk it like I talk it cause I run it
