And there's always the classic Paranoid Android, but you might not be ready for that just yet.
I forgot that I do have a burned copy of The Bends. That has to be something of a primer to prevent full gray madder obliteration.
Anywho, heavy hitters for me in 2010 were Dax Riggs, First Aid Kit, Fitz & the Tantrums, Freddie Gibbs, Future Islands, Holy Sons (though Survivalist Tales was not all I dreamt of and more, it's still always a thrill to get a new release from Emil,) Miniature Tigers, Twin Shadow and Matthew Dear.
As for 2011's offerings, two in particular have got me swooning. Smith Westerns "Dye It Blonde" is lush dreampop with authentic glam-rock riffs, and some really lovely melodies. But, Dirty Beaches' "Badlands" is the clear winner so far with it's drugged ballad "Lord Knows Best." Lots of comparisons to Roy Orbison on this album - I'm also hearing Chris Issak on heroin occasionally possessed by Hasil Adkins.
you're so natural
