But you can choose what information you give and still give accurate information. For example: I don't think telling your birthday gives too much information about you, because there are millions of people in the world with the same birthday. You don't have to show your real name (as I don't). I guess I could show my first name, because I've revealed it here anyway, and it pretty common in Finland, but can't update my profile. I'd never tell my last name here in general however, because it's pretty rare. And I also created an e-mail address just to show here. I check it once in a while, but I don't really use it.
As for the other information in the profile and the fan registry, I think it's only fun to know certain stuff about people. Like what country they live in and what they do for living. Still, unless you're the president of your country or something like that, telling your occupation doesn't really help people identifying you too well.
