I'm going to reply to all points except number one. I suppose it's up to EJ or Ohro whether they want to remain Mods for another year or whether they're gracious enough to stand for election like the rest of us, provided it goes ahead.
Point 2 re. Evan: Maybe you'd like to mention it to Evan, saying a few posters are interested in democratically elected moderators, and would he be willing to go along with that? That is, if you think he'd mind. I guess Evan should remain our God, someone powerful enough to call marshal law or veto the whole lot as he chooses.
Point 3 re. rigging: The last Mr/Miss TW competition had hardly any rigging after the first round because posters publicly stated who they voted for on the thread. If someone prefers their vote to remain anonymous they could simply state on the thread they've sent a PM to whoever's hosting the round, so that the figures tally up at the end. But in that instance, someone trustworthy would be need to host the round so that PM votes aren't fiddled. I'd prefer to keep PM voting to a minimum for this reason.
Point 4 re. term time: Open to debate of course, but I'd say one year is a good basis for that. What would be more difficult is working out how a decision is to be reached between mods once they're in power. How would they resolve conflicting policies? Anyhow, all of that is really post-election stuff.
Point 5 re. round hosting: Anyone bar the existing mods. Seriously, maybe eraserhead should do it since it was his idea. Provided he's not standing, that is. But I think eraserhead is a pretty 'neutral' guy. Those photos in the picture thread, he has an innocent face, don't you think?
Point 6 re. who elected?: I would guess that most voters would take that into consideration, that they'd want an established player who can appreciate the qualities of many different types of posting. Of course, everyone has their favourite posters, and I'd be loathed to hand over control to people who occasionally genuinely get upset by what's written here, that they might act in hot blood. On the other hand, I would be truly distraught if Claude was denied the right to stand. But yeah, as I say, I'm sure most people will consider that when voting.
Point 7 re. who votes?: Hmm, four years is a bit steep isn’t it? I mean, my Crazy Diamond account was registered on 09/25/01 so technically I'd just qualify, but I would personally hesitate to put the barrier any higher than three years. Why four years anyway? To filter alter egos? Would Jesus.H. Christ be allowed to vote?
I think anyone who's put in charge of hosting the rounds perhaps should've been here that length of time, so that they can determine fairly accurately who is and who isn't an alter ego here. But besides that, I'm looking to give votes to people who have been here just two years.
