I just read that folks are complaining that the new Snickers ad that ran during the Super Bowl is homophobic. OMG! How pathetic. It's funny, I laughed. It does nothing to make gays and lesbians look bad, it only makes the rednecks look stupid.

That's kind of the point. It makes the rednecks look stupid, but it also seems to suggest that this is okay. I doubt they are trying to say the ad reflects poorly on Gays - merely, it perpetuates the idea that "Gay is baaad," and reacting to homosexuality with anger and violence is acceptable and even comical to the general public.. when it apparently is not.
