In 1992, Arquette played alongside Bowie in the film The Linguini Incident - about the same time this song was written.
She played the character LUCY, a failing escape artist.
Now in terms of films, Arquette is inseperable from Madonna as they both played lead roles in Madonna first film - Desperately Seeking Susan.
Could Lucy Can't Dance be partially written from Rosanna's perspective (who died and made you material girl)? I don't know enough about her to say.
