i've had a perpetual boner for heroes and aladdin sane lately. latter day renaissance , if you will.
For whatever reason I hadn't listened to any Bowie album for fuck knows how long. I still don't feel particularly compelled to listen to any Bowie if the truth be told. However, I've been drawn recently to just one Bowie album: Aladdin Sane.
Weird. I'd always considered 1976-80 to be my favourite Bowie period, but after my lengthy Bowie sabbatical and a general declining interest in Bowie I find I'm becoming increasingly attracted to the Ziggy era stuff to the complete exclusion of the rest. So much so, I'm think I'm gonna dust off Pin Ups soon and give it a listen. (C'mon, you gotta love Aynsley Dunbar's scattergun drumming if nothing else)
Why should that be I wonder? Nietzsche would exclaim, "Ziggy is dead!", Confucius would give the nod towards nostalgia, Freud would probably say it's because I'm sexually repressed, an astrologer would suggest Uranus is in the ascendancy, while my mother would say it's because I'm not eating enough roughage.
So yeah, I've got a boner for Ziggy at the mo and a bit of a semi for Young Americans
I think we all get that feeling “what can I do to help the human race” then you probably like me say fuck it theirs something on the TV - JamieSim
