Bowie says lots of things, a great many of them lies, sure he looks thin, who wouldn't when not eating as was in his case, yes he took drugs, how is that wrong? that was his choice, the addiction however was not his choice.

He thrived on being thin, he was living the Thin White Duke, I do not believe this character was that drug induced, Nobody on that amount of drugs could produce his best albums ever IMO.
