We'd decided to pack up and Chris Blackwell said we had to do the "Rock 'N' Roll Circus." I had this gut feeling that it couldn't stop. We were on a roll, something had to happen. When Bowie came along to see us he was a bit nervous. We all respected him and worked with him and went along with what he wanted totally. The album had a laid back feel to it. It had a commercial edge to it. Which you've got to do a little bit."
