Vinyl is not really pointless, cd's are alot better to listen to.
It's harder and alot more expensive to find a good new record player nowadays.
I know someone who has one of those really expensive top of the range turn tables, and after listening to vinyl on that I would get one but as it stands I could not afford one.
Those things will tell you how mint your vinyl is as it picks up everything and makes the music sound crisp and clear.
