I was trying to share my experience with my 6 month old son and David Bowie's music.
My son Nicholas is already a David Bowie fan. From birth (and while I was carrying him) he has been listening to my CD of Bowie's "the singles 1969 to 1993" featuring his greatest hits.
When my son hears David's music, he automatically stops crying, no matter how pissed he was at the time, and listens to the music. It is instant. Usually, after about 5 minutes, he falls asleep and does not wake up until the CD is done. Then he wakes up right away. I even did a test with other kinds of music: Eric Clapton, Wild Strawberries, Melissa Ethridge, even tried Kenny G. But no. His preference is clear: BOWIE'S THE MAN.
The other day, I was amazed when Nicholas was lying on the floor on his blanket, screeming 'cause he had lost his soother. Well, David's Ziggy Stardust song came on the radio and again, Nicky just stopped the crying to listen to the whole song. It was instant.
I don't know what kind of effect David has on my son but whatever it is, I wish I could tell him: THANK YOU!! David has provided me with numerous hours of much needed rest.
Well, that's my story. To other young mothers out there: try it. Hope it works for you too!
