Major Hazzard, I have that all important information you wanted. The secret occult significance of TOY. The Toy is trickster/fool. The hero/zero--Object & Cause of Ridicule. The Original Oddity! A Tumbler-Twirler and Harlequin Mime. Master of Masque and Spectacle! Bowie is putting us all "inside his show." And it's the "freakiest show." The Player (Comedian-Tragedian) brings his TOY to the GALLERY. Like Columbine, he knows that life's a BIT and sometimes you DIE. The verb "toy" originally meant to tow or tie, hence die. The Lover's knots and strings bind the puppet! And sometimes love is an idle conceit, a secret concealed in the labyrinth, a paradox smoldering with hidden meanings. Poor Dunce, he never knew what hit him! On the stage of life, one must watch for the trapdoors and sliding panels! "It was only MAKE BELIEVE--WAS SHE EVER THERE? Moondust covers the blind man stumbling in the age of grand illusion! The TOY is the stuff from which dreams are woven! A Betty Wrong, wide of the truth, telling lies! The Shallow man in the Shadows! Lady Grinning Soul and Laughing Gnome! The Mock-heroic king with the sardonic grin! The Absolute Beginner, the Silly Boy Blue and the Chela-Disciple. The very first card in the TAROT--The Holy Fool and Sacred Clown. Toy is the utmost in subtle/spiritual wisdom! Bowie is a mad genius!!!

Well done Bew!now you have done that, you can come back here. I DONT WANT PORRIDGE! I WANT CELERY!. Earthlings are on fire with the amount of methane they are producing with their eating habits. Old habits die hard but we are up there with the cows firing methane and carbon dioxide into the atmosphere causing global warming. To stop the icecaps melting, we must start wearing funnels attached to our butt and connect this to a national grid that we can power the towns with and make the grass grow."switch the furnace on darling" ."kiss my ass first"

And speaking of geniuses Bowie collaborated with who his fans generally don't care about, the great bandleader Chico O'Farrill (who yours truly has harangued about here in the past) has passed away. Bowie can be credited for helping drag the underappreciated Latin music force out of obscurity, even if we didn't notice till years later (if at all). In this morning's NY Times, Ben Ratliff mentions that BTWN was one of O'Farrill's only public projects in a two-decade period in which almost no one was interested. I'll admit that I don't love BTWN, but thanks to Bowie for having the foresight to bring back Ronson and enlist Lester and Chico. Maybe not great, but now priceless. Bad losses this week, kids. .....

Luther need not have done the diet-oriented promotion or even bothered reminiscing about YA: The new album sold 135,000 copies in its first week and will debut on Billboard's chart Monday at No. 6. Another Clive Davis miracle.

I know this is totally off topic and is maybe not the place for it - but I have been asked to circulate it to as many people as possible - please help !! - Dusty, a Labrador-Dalmatian, was scheduled for euthanasia after his first humans dumped him at the city pound. He eluded death by a mere 24 hours and found hope at the Granite City APA. One of the most popular puppies at the no-kill shelter, Dusty was lovingly released to his new home. That home included a young child. Dusty was left *unattended* with that young child, an almost 3 year old boy. The toddler, being a toddler, provoked Dusty and he nipped at him. The toddler was injured and required two stitches. What should have happened in this situation was to confine the dog, tend to the bite, and call animal control or another shelter to ask for assistance on how to handle this to prevent future biting. Instead of taking responsible actions, nearly 10 hours later, a 32 year old, Michael Welch (the toddlers father), came home from work with a sledgehammer, baseball bat, and vengeance on his mind. Welch took Duty, chained him to a pole then took that sledgehammer and that baseball bat and beat Dusty for an hour took a "beer break" and proceeded back to the blood spattered patio where he continued to beat the whimpering dog. Though neighbors heard Dusty's piteous yelps, Welch's wife and 3 children slept through the ordeal. Neighbors who heard the dog screaming, finally, called police but it was too late. Dusty was dead. Police were unable to recognize Dusty as a dog because of the viciousness of the beating. They were finally able to identify him because of his dog tag. On Saturday, June 9th, in St. Louis MO. from 12:30 am - 3:15 am Dusty, the most loved dog in the shelter, suffered a horrible, miserable death at the hands of his *guardian*. No one helped, no one heard. Dusty died alone, blood spattered and broken. Welch claims this was an "accident". We at Nuzzled would like to know at which point this became an accident. When Welch "accidentally" left his son unattended with Dusty? When Welch "accidentally" brought home a sledgehammer? When Welch "accidentally" picked that sledgehammer up and beat Dusty with it? Or when Welch was "accidentally" caught? This was no accident. This is a case of premeditated murder! Michael Welch knew full well what he was doing. He knew the minute he left work with sledgehammer in tow. We cannot let this "man" get away with Dustys murder! Please contact the prosecutor and ask that Michael Welch receive the MAXIMUM SENTENCE for this brutal act. Ask him to send a clear message that this type of cruelty will not be accepted. Robert McCulloch, Prosecutor 100 S. Central Avenue Clayton, MO 63105 314-615-2600 Fax: 314-615-2611 pa@stlouisco.com Note: When you call the courthouse, the receptionist may try to tell you that you can only discuss the case with the attorney's office if you are a family member. She will also try to tell you that you can't express a request to the prosecuting attorney either. *This is untrue.* Apparently they are getting lots of calls. If you are politely insistent, and let them know that as a taxpayer you expect to be put through, they will put you through to the prosecutor's office where you can ask for the maximum sentence. PLEASE CROSSPOST EVERYWHERE!!!!

And last night Luther Vandross added a little elaboration to the story about the YA vocals in a segment on ABC's 20/20 Downtown. It was the only non-dieting, music-content moment in the piece. He said that the song needed a hook, and he was singing along to the main line with "All Night" and with the title repeated. That is, he was singing what became the response to Bowie's call. I guess it must have been a recording that he was singing to, because he said that unbeknownst to him, Bowie was behind him, and heard him, and loved it, and added the backings, and the rest is history. YA was playing in the background during the interview, and Luther said something like, "you know the line ...." and the talking hairdo interviewer interrupted him laughing, saying, "Oh yeah, we KNOW" the line/song, very well. Anyway, it was kind of cute, and great to hear Bowie arcana analyzed during prime time on a US network. And more interesting than Luther's weight battles. Could have used a little more detail, however, on that video with Garcelle Beauvois, but then again, that's just me. ;-)

This time around, after playing AtYDs live and Stern fawning over how great the song was, Hunter finally ended the same anecdote he told on Idiot's Delight by saying, "Yeah, I wonder where he nicked it," which got a big studio laugh, and gave Stern the opportunity to go for the juglar. He said Bowie and Ian had a well-known falling out. Ian denied it. Stern said Bowie was cheap, and that Ian had said so. Ian denied that Bowie was cheap and a little bit miffed said he had never said that. A Stern assistant broke in and said that the real problem was that Bowie didn't go to the tribute show when a guy from Mott died, and Stern, obviously lying, said he'd read that too. Ian said that was the Ronson tribute, and that everyone did what they had to do and live their own lives, and he wasn't bitter or angry at Bowie, no benefit in that. Very entertaining even if everyone's veracity was highly suspect. Hunter, again with James Mastro and a percussionist, also played a song from the new album. Meantime, 20 minutes later on the NYC Pacifica station, the DJ played "Something in the Air," pointing out how it was a departed DJ's recent Bowie fave and a great song.

Has anyone seen Bowie at either of the U2 shows? The reports from last night had Springsteen and Van Zandt, Moby, almost all of Aerosmith, Courtney Love, De Niro, Chris Rock and others in the good seats. Daniel Lanois was the only actual on-stage guest. The rumors of guests for the last two shows are out of hand, so much so that you gotta think they will forever remain rumors. Instead of U2, we saw Al Green last night at the Beacon, and while he was obviously hurting from something or other, I think it was about as excited an audience as I'll ever experience. He remains amazing. Openers The Holmes Bros. (see http://www.alligatorrecords.com/artists/index.cfm) were terrific too; they were helped out throughout their set by Joan Osborne, in case anyone was worried that she had disappeared.

AND ZIGGY PLAYED GUITAR Surprisingly, I have made other inroads to transfer information about the screenplay that I am writing on David’s life story to David via conventional routes, but have yet to indulge the obvious on this message board. Now doing so will - I suspect - circulate the concrete truth of its existence and source from the author, writer, actor, Stephen Wozniak and myself. That as it is, I have enlisted many of the key players of David’s professional and personal life over the last 30 years to raise its momentum and veracity within the film industry. While nearing completion, I am also seeking out investors whose worth in music and film approaches that of David himself. Needless to say, I need very much to pass along the partial script and promotional package to David, as I would like to secure a space for him as executive producer. Ultimately, I will join on as co-producer and plan to play lead as David in his adult years. Hey its good people are dropping in again. It sure gets lonely here, now most of the time there is only that drunken Scotchwoman hanging around here .Wheres that old toymaker Bowie gone?. I suppose he is tapping nails into wood ,dancing around his shed in leather shorts painting noses on funny little creatures that will be a joy to us all. He certainly will not be a fat jolly Mr Piper "come with me-come and see-all the wonders there will be". He will put laughter lines on our face and when was the last time you laughed? I cant remember the last laugh "ha ha he, i am mouthing loon and you cant catch me". Nobody ever remembers Kelmar laughing (if it did happen it was a small private thing) or Jeaj laughing sober. Line up all the manic depressives on the message board rip their clothes off and tickle them with a feather duster."I DONT WANT PORRIDGE, I WANT CEREAL"

Two fat ladies EIGHTY EIGHT and they certainly dont fit into an old British telephone box. They all march to the beat of different drums now cracking the bridges across the great divide. The collective forces are no longer telling me to tell the men about whats hip hep. The small energy buzzing around our heads telling us who we are. They say "you are Major Hazzard". I say "excuse me- who? i am trying to listen to this gramophone, this is trying to tell me that i like it cuz i listen to it quite often, so shut your mouth" I dont mean to be rude, but its just that sometimes it helps me remember that i aint a dead man walking.Sometimes though it just hits you.

Here's one you likely haven't heard about and should act on immediately, 'cause once its publicized, it'll be gone in a second: Joe Strummer at Irving Plaza. Way out on Oct. 9, but on sale now online at SFX and TM. His HBO Reverb show last year was one of the best TV concerts I've ever seen. No Bowie content here because there isn't any Bowie content. Can we make some? Are there any other major artists who have failed to take advantage of the DVD medium? Of course not. I know he wants everyone to watch his videos on Bowienet, but here in the regular world, our connections still suck. For someone so out front about the Internet, it's astounding how far behind he is in this area. He's strategized and positioned himself into a corner, and it's way past the time when it looks pretty stupid.

Great report!! Thank you!! Brownies, depending on who, is one of the loudest places on earth, and I knew that Reeves would be up to the task of testing the sound system. Sorry I missed that one, and glad you enjoyed it Nite.

Hey Rancell, Went to see Reeves last night. Unbelievable. It was great to walk up that close. He was not playing the Parker. Iasked him what his Guitar was and I really could not hear him. This was after the show my hearing was a little shot. He was cool and talked a bit with some of us after the show. Says he'll be back and Any fan of the Reeves era would be foolish to miss this treat. The Set was about an hour long. The songs were mostly from Ulysees. Highlights were Accident Waiting to Happen, Yesterday's Gone and Party Puppet. The only Tin Machine song played was Bus Stop which blew me the f*ck out of the room. All I can see and here now is sonic screams or sacred squawls. Lot's of Fans yelling "Go Now!" and yelling for Hunt. very cool indeed!

The release on Carlos's appointment just hit the Business Wire, but actually is dated yesterday. You'll find it on the Naras site at http://www.grammy.com/press/press_releases/20010604a.html

I thought that Bowie might note in the chat last night that with Visconti hard at work on Bowie stuff, Alomar was back in the fold too. I don't know whether he is or he isn't, but this time around, Carlos might be too busy: the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences AKA Naras, the group responsible for the Grammys, just announced that Alomar was named vice chairman of its board of trustees. Apparently this came about when the trustees met with Naras' executive directors in late May. Congratulations to Carlos.

firstly the phone box. Heddon Street, off Regent street. it's also where K West is on the Ziggy cover. The phone box is at the Oxford Circus end of Heddon Street but is no longer there, it's just a booth thing. tragic. it's in a museum somewhere. still great to be there though. second, is there anyone out there with no more than basic html skills who has the time that i don't have to help me fix up and co run my three year old and well established Bowie site. let me know if you are interested and i will send you the details. new father, far too busy at work and generally run into the ground. thanks christian

Most of my troops were lonely, all of them desperately trying to find common ground, something in common. McCartney and Lennon have something in common now besides the Beatles, they both have wings.I suppose when you have finished eating, you have to find some amusement, toys like aliens just to comfort us that we are not alone. Its the thin blue line that separates the common Earth from the dust bowl of Mars. We all like to come down to ground. So next time you get a lightening bolt down your butt or you hot wire your self with a faulty electrical appliance, relax! its all going to earth.

Just a couple comments on Moulin Rouge... #1- WOW, #2- very cool film, probably my fave of the season (unless of course Tomb Raider turns out to be better than the previews). Definitely worth going to see, and NK and Ewan singing Heroes wasn't really so bad - nearly brought a tear to my eye. (no, jk!) The can-can dancers at the Moulin Rouge are likened to the "Diamond Dogs", but there's only one line or two sung from that song during the entire film. Overall, it was great - even Roger Ebert gave it 3 1/2 stars out of four. :-)
