great to be here! I`ve been fan for mr. Bowie since -81 or so. Since that only music i`ve been lisneting is Sir himself. (forgive my language). Bowie is the one and only!!

Thanks for the info rancell- he does indeed bring up some valid points (esp. from the marketing standpoint!) What exactly is this new album going to sound like? Has anyone heard a track or two? (or more)

In his private newsletter today, industry crank Bob Lefsetz goes off on the Columbia/Bowie deal viciously and even more viciously on Bowie. Nevermind that the writer appears to have not listened to Bowie's music beyond a TM song or two since 1983. He lauds Levy for dumping Bowie, and laughs at Ienner for making the deal. Once he's done criticizing Bowie's plastic surgery and noting that he's released nothing but "tripe" for decades--his word, not mine--he blunders into some valid points about how the new label will promote this stuff. If Virgin couldn't get him on adult top 40 with "Thursday's Child," what exactly is Columbia going to do? No one sane will sit around worrying about such stuff except those immediately involved and Lefsetz. But if Ienner does nothing in Europe, he'll still do fine, and anything else here is gravy. I'd bet on Columbia doing better. Much better. You can see Lefsetz's public rants on VH-1 at http://www.vh1.com/thewire/rantsraves/lefsetz/ryanadams.jhtml, which takes you to the most recent column on Ryan Adams and an index.

Ah Greig, i can see why you might think i'm a Jags man, but the fitba just doesn't do it for me i'm afraid. Did you see Bowie at the Barrowlands in '97 (or was it 98 i forget)...good concert! Reeves wore a kilt he he he!

Ah, but Wully, as I said Tam might not be his real name (evidently you know who I mean). Thanks for the advice. I'll nip in the next time I'm in Byres Road and the lure of Jinty's doesn't prove to great. I'm told Murrayfield '83 was a feckin' belter but if you can advise on any others that would be smashin'. 'Nat, know? By the way, are you a Jags man?

I have been a David Bowie fan since I was 9, now I am 23 and I have yet to see him in concert. I am stuck in Albuquerque, NM and I am hoping that DB doesn't take that left at Albuquerque and doesn't stop in. I am happy to see a site dedicated to the most wonderful and talented person in the world

Columbia is reissuing on April 23 Pete Yorn's debut from last year, "musicforthemorningafter," accompanied by a bonus disc of live material, including his version of China Girl. (Along with two Springsteens, "New York Serenade" and "Dancing In The Dark", and the Smiths "Panic," and a rerecording of the new single.) Not great but fun. The guy has got the songs, and the covers, but the voice is questionable. The bigger question is whether Bowie will be calling him labelmate by the time the song comes out. :-)

Cripes, you go away for a week and the place goes to hell. Say Johnny- I met Don Rickles in Las Vegas and he says he wants his schtick back. You never paid the royalties for "borrowing" his routine, he claims. In other news- Roseland's a go-go!

I've got a bootleg of the whole gig from the BBC Theatre, over two hours worth complete with banter witht he audience. No' bad quality and a top notch piece of ware. Just get yourself along to Revolver at The Barras Market up the Gallowgate in Glasgow and ask for Tam. You will then be supplied with a copy for your ten quid which will prove to be a worthy investment. By the way, seeing as bootlegs are not exactly legal "Tam" might not be his real name. Oh, and ye never heard it from me, okay?

Jeeze! this place is so boring now. How many more "this is a great site" "i like Bowie's music" bollocks can you read with out throwing up? Whats happened to Evan and Bowie? did they both get locked up in the nut house? I spose that KMSV is locked up in the sweaty betty ford clinic where Jeaj should have gone years ago. What happened to Margot(last seen dancing around her place in her underpants)? What happened to Coldfyr last heard of roller blading in a bursting out nurse's uniform with scissors in her hand. Did they all go with the 'Toys'?

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of "Bowie at the Beeb" complete with the live recordings CD of DB at the BBC Theatre. Mine was stolen by my ex-housemate who did a bunk with all my DB CDs and others. I don't care that she owes me a hell of a lot of cash, I'm more peeved about the theft of half my CD collection. If anyone can help, please email me.

I heard this fantastic band the other day on the radio - sounded like a cross between David Bowie, Frank Black and Brian Eno (maybe with a bit of Beck and Television added for good measure). Good influences to have though! They were called Scarla O'...good to hear that somebody's still producing decent music (even if they do owe a helluva lot to Bowie). The next big thing? (i told you first!) lol Anyway, if you get the opportunity have a listen...all good stuff
