Hi! Was in Paris yesterday with li'l bro at "Zenith." I've seen Bowie lotsa other times but never as hot as this! He was so tally the bad boy and enjoying himself immensely. Flirting, skirting, prancing and behavin' ... It was a blast! He opened with a "Life on Mars?" ... only him and Garson mostly... Best singing I've heard from hom ever live! Also, highlights were "Ashes to Ashes," "Heroes," "Rebel Rebel" (extremely good new version) and overall the general spirit of mischief that he totally radiated...

rancell, it is unfortunate that a lot of contests are for those in the lower 48 only.... but, if you wanted to donate money towards a flight, maybe I would manage to make it to NY ;) (just kidding, I don't think I'd be able to get the time off school!) What I need is another Roseland next June :)

Great WEB Site! In 1982 Bowie appeared in a Bertolt Brecht play for the BBC called 'Baal'. Does anyone know how to obtain a copy?

HELP! Bowie experts needed... David recently mentioned on a UK television show that his father was born in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, England. Please visit the message board at www.tadcaster.uk.com and see the query from Angela Usher. Thanks guys...

That contest isn't even valid in the 49th and 50th states!! Sorry, Alys, I hadn't read the fine print. Traveling to this show would be pretty wacky, anyway. Bowie notwithstanding.

Unfortunately for me, rancell, Canada is not just yet considered the 51st US State ;-) Otherwise I would be entering that contest and winning! hehe I guess my bad runway jokes will have to stay north of the border... what a pity.

All three of the UK version of ESH were available at the HMV on 5th Avenue on Monday, and therefore are likely all over the place. Not a huge stocking, obviously, but more than one of each. Alys, maybe we'll see you here next month? Enter here: http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/fashion_awards_2002/series.jhtml.

rancell, I hope that whatever extras are put on the Canadian single, they are ones I haven't heard before. But I am glad that something (possibly) may be coming out here. But nothing in the stores just yet (or the online shops either.) Neondisease suggested sometime mid-October for the release, I believe? And as for the Fashion Awards... well, I just hope he dresses well. Maybe the crowd will love the song and it will become a runaway (runway? ;-)) hit! lol

Yeah, Alys, Bowienet says that that's the single, with Shadowman and Sunday. Apparently there is another Sunday remix, by Visconti, on a Euro single, if I'm reading it right. I'm not sure that this is what appears on the single up there, however. And seriously, the Fashion Awards appearance makes (embarrassing) sense, really, outside of SNL, is there another national show he can go on that would have him and play ESH for the masses? What the hell is gonna happen with this single? Is Columbia going to put any effort into breaking this? Has it even been sent to US radio stations? I (very weirdly) heard it on radio once and only once, on AAA WXPN in Philly (public radio) in the parking lot as I was leaving the Camden show in July. I think that the Canadian release is a good sign--that Columbia isn't done with Heathen. But what are they going to do? And when are they going to do it?

With my luck rancell, the Fashion awards probably won't play here in Canada for 2 months afterwards... But I hear (from neondisease over at livejournal) that I've Been Waiting for You is slated to be released in Canada as a single. I haven't read anything in papers here about it, so I'm just waiting (though not holding my breath, by any means!) This will be the first Bowie single released in Canada since... IAOA, I think.

There you go, thanks for the tip, Bowie on the VH1 Fashion Awards again, next month. See the VH1 site. A performance this time. Will ESH actually get a push here? If this is it, who needs one? ...

Hey there. I research home equity loans regarding mortgage financing headaches. Home equity loans work even if you have a second mortgage or no home equity . You can even do some debt consolidation too. none.

Bowie is in France , signing authographs at the Virgin Megastore... back on stage the September 24th + 25th .... And i've been one of the lucky fans who have seen him at the Olympia Theater the Jully 1st... My daughters came with me, it was my youngest second concert ( the first was Iggy !) she is 13, my oldest is 21 and was born with Bowie in her head!!! So to say, not only internet can "add" new fans , but Bowie's fans can be old enough to make their children really appreciate Bowie!!! BTW.... The Parisian Concert was absolutly fabulous... and i've been lucky enough to come in USA to see BILLY IDOL in Las Vegas & San Diego .... Well Bowie is always (and will be) BOWIE ... but BILLY IDOL IS BACK WITH STEVE STEVENS ... God loves Rock & Roll !!!!!

Calling all swedes. DB is on (horror of horrors) BINGOLOTTO sat 14 sept. Doing slow burn & one other track in a lime green suit. I guess if madonna can be on teh same (truly awful mindless show) then its ok for Dave but it really ruins his street cred. ( if a 55 year old father of 2 HAS any left) Now I'll be forced to watch teh whole show just for 7 minutes of bliss. I'll tape it and FF teh boring bits but still get to see all teh rubbish! Groan. DAVE! Please don't do this again! Bingo lotto makes watching paint dry seem really interesting! Bye for now

I guess I now know where to get my flights. Who knew? I didn't see this debut yesterday, but Billboard's report says it all. Congrats to Carlos: "Guitarist Carlos Alomar has been tapped as bandleader for 'The Caroline Rhea Show,' a new syndicated talk show that premiered yesterday (Sept. 3). Alomar is best known for his work on David Bowie releases from 1975's 'Young Americans' to 1987's 'Never Let Me Down.' He also served as musical director for Bowie's Glass Spider tour and has recorded with the likes of Yoko Ono, Iggy Pop, Cyndi Lauper, and Deborah Gibson. A well-known comedian who co-starred on the ABC series "Sabrina, The Teenage Witch," Rhea was a frequent guest host on the since discontinued "The Rosie O'Donnell Show." First week guests on her show include Carole King, comedian/actor Drew Carey, and actress Cynthia Nixon ("Sex and the City"). Taped daily in New York, the show airs at various times in different North American markets. To find out more about the show, including local broadcasters, upcoming guests and features, and information on free tickets, visit the production's official Web site."

In the new Village Voice, 9/4-9/10, first time in many many years rock critic dean Robert Christgau has devoted an entire paragraph to a review of a Bowie album, which usually are listed in the Duds. Well, maybe Bowie was better off, because the latest makes his pick as the highlight "Dud of the month." Here's the text: "The 'Bowie's back' huzzahs that accompany every one of this music mill's new releases beg the question of what he's back to and from. The reason Englishmen have actually touted him as the greatest rock artiste of all time is that he's the least American major rock artiste of all time, which is one reason his careful brand maintenance isn't filling any arenas over here. Just to be mean I compared his latest phoenix imitation to 1979's Lodger, a certified nonclassic I always kind of liked. Lodger won easy. He has indeed Learned to Sing, thus rendering himself more the chansonnier only art-rockers ever wanted him to be, and the strain is hell on his sense of humor. The textures are nicer now, but whose aren't? And while the songwriting ain't bad, it also ain't that good. Just switch between the Black Francis cover and any other track and you'll know exactly what I mean." Grade: C PLUS. Last week's issue's feature VV review of Frantic basically had Bowie stealing the key moments of Bryan Ferry's career.
