The easy quiz is not to hard. Every thing on up is difficult for me. but hey, what do you expect from a 12 yr. old begining fan?! P.S Bowienet is the only place beter than this place for obvious reasons(accsess to david bowie!).

You did Alys, congrats, and I have very good news too: I've been selected by a Nigerian banking minister for a major transaction. More news coming on that ... and your potential suitor, I'm sure. There's stuff round here, somewhere, about the Ziggy picture alley, isn't there? It seems like it has been written about so much. A Conran restaurant is in the alley now, or at least was last time I saw it. Off Regent St., right in the heart of it. Big picture of the limited edition reissue of Ziggy in today's NY Times. You'll find it in the business section, and on the Web. The main focus is Elvis C., who is quoted, but Bowie is used as an example to examine the question, "How many times will music consumers buy the same thing?"

Yeah, that's a great call, Alys. Bowie is overdue for a Tibet duet. Gale Ann, BTW, is playing around here, at the Bottom Line the night before Visconti's show at Joe's Pub first week of next month, then her own show with Kate Pierson of the B-52 (first time in the city, so far as I know) at Joe's Pub the end of January.

Sounds promising rancell! I wonder if Bowie and Laurie Anderson will do any kind of duet? (recalling Gail Ann and Bowie covering O Superman during the Earthling tour...)

Oops, sorry, here is the lineup statement: "As usual, Philip Glass will be the Artistic Director, and to date, David Bowie, Laurie Anderson, Ray Davies, Angelique Kidjo, Ziggy Marley, Rufus Wainwright and the Drepung Gomang monks have accepted invitations to play."

Bowienet confirmed Tibet, 2/28/03. From Bowienet: <> Does Laurie mean Lou? Yup, he'll have a new album out, so if he's around. ... And Patti Smith at least was expected, as usual. RB

I had hoped that they were going to show a lot more of his 90s stuff, rather than all that 70s stuff ... it would have been nice to hear from more musicians that were influenced by Bowie in the 90s (besides the obvious Moby)... but I guess it wasn't too be. I loved some of his childhood photos, he was a cute kid. And as for Angie, I'm not surprised at all lol... seems very typical for her. What is she up to these days other than seeking out publicity for how she was attached to DB?

I didn't think that anything was said about her that hadn't been said a milion times, but the mere existence of the show, with as you note Alys all the 70s stuff, sort of cries out for a publicity opportunity, and of course she was more than willing to oblige. Angie's need for and obsession with fame was as driven as Bowie's (moreso?), and since she couldn't sustain it on her own, her attempts like yesterday are even more desperate than her ex-husband's current periodic Fashion Awards/Puffy/Hello mag/etc. episodes. I believe that the reason the show has been so well received was the fact that so many unseen personal pictures emerged, along with the personal interviews with friends who hadn't been seen on camera before for such sustained interviews. So the personal stuff was there and looked good. Not really what I cared about. I also thought the catchup at the end where they flashed pictures of a few bands didn't do much to make the case for his influence, which is sort of what justifies the show in the first place. Very little about any process, Outside or otherwise, in the two hours. Anyway, the Tibet lineup isn't out, but they know a few of the performers already, for sure.

Her depiction on A&E struck me as perhaps nicer than some of the Bowie bios that have been written, so what is she complaining about. Funny pics of her on that show too lol. I thought it was interesting, but I knew most of the info on that show- I had hoped that they would have gone into more detail around the Outside album time period there... instead of focusing so much on the 70s. Oh, and what's the lineup for this year's Tibet, rancell? :)

David Bowie, the most beautiful songs i´ve heard come from the white thin duke, the unique David Bowie. I know he won´t read this, but David, a fan from Brasil, loves your songs.

In the you-could-almost-see-one-of-these-coming department, Angie has gotten herself the lead item in today's Page Six in the New York Post (see today http://www.nypost.com/gossip/pagesix.htm), outraged over her depiction by the A+E biography, which BTW struck me as a lot less interesting than everybody seemed to think it was. Looking good for Tibet on 2/28!! :-)
