rancell, being a rather cash-strapped student makes most TM ticket prices seem astronomical! ;) Here in Calgary the show is going to be a "concert bowl" setting, which is the smaller version concert setup. It eliminates about a third (approx.) of the seats (behind and to the side of the stage), and it still hasn't sold out here. I'm actually a bit embarrassed to say that, because I'd hoped there were more Bowie fans here in Calgary and area. After all, if Bowie had (or hopefully still will) sell out here, maybe he'd consider coming back more often. Just tried TM.ca, and I'm getting singles on level one on the side (the higher end tickets at $80). Seems to be singles only on that level. Also, there are doubles available in the 3rd row of the balcony on the side, which is really decent seating. So, I guess fans aren't exactly scrambling... hmmmph.

Well, there you go: I just went to check to see if something new miraculously dropped into the TM system for Borgata that I could sink a couple of hundred bucks into. Presale over. Allotment gone. Yup, they definitely know what they are doing. The onsale for AC is Saturday morning. Just a hunch, but if you're still getting pairs more than 30 minutes into that one, it will be a surprise, at least to me. I wonder if with a third show now on presale for Rosemont they're sorry they didn't just put it in the United Center? For that matter, they could have cut the same deals in AC at the Boardwalk Hall, and quadrupled the capacity, and still sold it out, albeit it a lower price scale. OTOH, you can be sure that there will be a lot of repeat attendees for those Chicago shows.

Alys, the seats, including the best seats, are actually bargains in many of these places compared with Bowie contemporaries. Rosemont, Philly, and Faifax, Va., are all incredibly good deals for the great seats, and to fill the places, the tiering price structure is reasonable for casual fans. And you can't fault them for business acumen: they are so high at Borgata because the market will bear it, easily. It may not be filled with hardcore fans who may just wait five days for Philly, at well less than half the price. But the AC show will be filled, the casino holds/buys alone clearly guarantee that. Same deal at MSG: $130 plus charges seemed high? Funny, but you couldn't even buy those seats just a few minutes into the sale. Now comes the real work, selling shitty $58 seats in Philly and $80 seats in NYC. They may just do it. They have time; the seats appear to be selling on TM. Then again, I just got an E-mail offering me last minute tickets for $12 for Shania Twain here. Looks like Bowie's tactical and varied pricing will let them move enough seats in these big places (maybe with some curtaining help in the midwest?)to avoid that Area:2 discounting need, but boy, $201 tickets for the U.S. tour opener just plain sucks.

Over $200?? Yikes! That is WAY too much for a show, even if it is in a casino. :( I'm glad to hear that you got cheaper tickets than that rancell, but still, that is rather expensive. (Considering that the most expensive tickets here in Calgary were $80+charges..in CDN$). It had better be a totally rocking show :)

Holding an East Coast presale without warning on the holiest day on the calendar for a significant minority of the population, both general and Bowie fans, is about as low as it comes. Do these men of Bowienet not live in NYC? The world don't stop on Yom Kippur, of course, but they could have at least let us know about it in advance. (The Reality tour is taking on another meaning with regard to the fans: every single presale has had some major problem.) The reason, of course, is that the presale has limited good tickets, and despite the fact that the thing runs all week, anybody not in right at 6pm is SOL. Then again, for Borgata, it doesn't matter. Only side floors were released (though I can't discount the fact that some somewhat more center seats might have escaped early)--specifically, 100s and 500s. Before TM charges, the tickets were over $200 each. What a nice way to open the US tour, in a casino, filled with casino comps, the real fans shunted off to the side at astronomical prices. I bought a pair just to get in the house in the risers, which were $101 each; the lower-priced $85 seats are waste of money, which is a pretty funny phrase to use in this context. As to Mohegan, Bowienet came through using the worse-than-TM tickets.com. I sort of lucked out because the pairs I pulled seemed very casino-ish, not as high priced nor as far over as AC, but I figured I'd see if a great single popped, and it did. So much for the other three people who wanted to go up there. Sheesh.

I may be mistaken, but if SJ follows the usual CC pattern, there will be a CC presale, perhaps in conjunction with a local radio station, and then the regular general onsale will follow. You may need a password for the earlier sale. I can't recall a Bowie release disappearing as fast as this one from promotional spots in stores, and that says a lot. Did it even survive in the top 100 on the new Billboard chart in its second week? Literally no US airplay by any measure I've seen, and with an album that could appeal across several formats. Even the AAA stations that allegedly got the promo singles are ignoring Reality almost completely. Very surprising, even given the bad results achieved pretty frequently since the 80s. You would have thought Columbia had something to build on from last year, with the tour helping, but instead, it's like the album is an adjunct to the tour. If that.
