Bowie still keeps a white acrylic alto saxophone his parents bought him when he 
was twelve years old. He took lessons from Ronnie Ross, who introduced him to 
the jazz saxophonist Charlie Parker.

Bowie's use of the saxophone is featured prominently on the album "Black Tie 
White Noise" from 1993.
