- Release details
- Original release by RCA 1981
- Catalogue number: VPL1 7439 (in Australia/New Zealand)
- This was the soundtrack to the movie Christiane
F, a biographical film about a young drug addict in Berlin. Her
favourite singer was David, who agreed to provide songs for the
soundtrack of the movie.
- The version of TVC15
is an edit that isn't available elsewhere, even shorter than the
single version available on
Bowie - The Singles. (Information contributed by Philip Obbard).
- The version of Stay
is the single version released in the US. (Information courtesy of Punk Floyd).
- In the film, V2 Schneider, Heroes/Helden, Sense of Doubt and Warszawa are used on the soundtrack, whilst
Stay and TVC15 are heard in the disco scenes.
Station To Station is heard during
the concert scene (featuring David). The Lodger tracks were included purely for
commercial reasons by RCA. (Information courtesy of Punk Floyd).
Look Back In Anger
is played right after Christiane
enters the "Sound" disco for the first time (03:30). Nevertheless this
is an chronological error, because the film plays in 1977, but
Lodger wasn't released
until 1979. Christiane never would
have been able to listen to this song at this time...
The same goes for
Boys Keep Swinging,
which is played in the stadium
(right before the concert) while they pass around a joint.
(Info from Douglas Bailey
and Steffen Rheinhold)
- At one point in the film, Christianne is given a copy of
Changesonebowie by her mother's
boyfriend. When she plays it, out of the amplifier comes
"Heroes", a song which isn't even on
that record. (Information from David Forster).
