October 20: As reported a couple of days ago, Bowie opened tonight's Concert For New York City at Madison Square Garden. Bowie began by singing Paul Simon's America sitting on the edge of the stage. Then, as most expected in this week's vote, Bowie sang his own "Heroes". The concert is still in progress so we'll see if Bowie rejoins for a finale performance.

October 16: BowieNet confirmed today that David Bowie will be the opening performer for this Saturday's Concert For New York City - the benefit concert organized by Paul McCartney and also featuring Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, The Who, Bon Jovi, Backstreet Boys among others. While there may be a small selection of tickets available from TicketMaster early this morning, your only other hope is to try and snag one from one of the online auction houses. Of, if you've just inherited a trust fund, you may try getting a VIP ticket from the Robin Hood Organization.
For most of us mere mortals, you'll be able to watch the event this Saturday evening on VH-1 starting at 7 p.m. ET/PT. Be sure to tune in on time!
