The concert took place at the Peissnitz-Insel in Halle near Leipzig. This is a lovely leisure-island amidst the green. Support bands were Instant Karma, a very good German band reminding me alittle bit of Radiohead, the very unattractive Ash, and Iggy Pop. Iggy worked the crowd to perfection, but Ash were a real downer. So tension had to be built up again by Bowie, in which he succeeded. The audience of 12,000 was delighted by his clever mixture of oldies and new songs. "Heroes", "under Pressure" and "All The Young Dudes" were the crowd pleasers, although my personal favourite was a spontaneously added "Strangers When We Meet".
