David Bowie has announced his new album will be released in the spring.

According to the Official David Bowie website, he has finished recording the album, called Toy.

Bowie says the album sounds great and features 12 tracks, including "some of the songs from the 60s which were never recorded, let alone released."

He says a March release was most likely, explaining: "The dinosaur corporate company takes over, and before you know it, in five months' time it will be on the street. We're hoping for about March."

Bowie confirmed that he'd be playing supporting gigs for the album but not touring. He would be playing at least in New York, although he made no mention of plans to bring the new show to the UK.
